Redefining the Fashion Flagship

High-Street Fashion Retailer

Our client is a long-established womenswear retailer with more than 350 stores worldwide.

Their Challenge: ‘As we expand into new markets, how should we develop our new flagship stores for today’s and tomorrow’s teens? How would flagships differ across six specified markets?’

Our Solution: A comprehensive report into the future retail attitudes and behaviours of fast-fashion consumers in the UK and six additional markets. We:

  • Identified key emerging trends across cultures, retail environments and retail technology, and tracked how these are manifesting in different markets
  • Broke down our findings into core areas of focus for our client’s business units
  • Delivered an at-a-glance regional overview of changing consumers in their prospective markets
  • Defined an 11-point checklist of business-critical areas for the brand’s architecture, store design and VM teams based on our future trends.

The Outcome: Our client is using our work, described as ‘informative, interesting and direct’, to inform the strategic planning and positioning of new flagship stores, and has since commissioned Stylus Advisory to undertake two additional consumer insight projects.

The Future of Food

Global FMCG Brand Group

Our client owns some of the world’s best-loved food brands and has a commitment to embedding effective sustainability across its brands and businesses.

Their Challenge: ‘What is the future for food in developed and emerging markets? How will technology change how we grow, farm, store, shop, select and serve food in the future?’

Our Solution: We created a broad and deep report that explored scenarios, challenges and opportunities for future farming, food preparation, retail, marketing and consumption. We:

  • Consolidated existing client research, reframing key questions and pushing our client's team’s thinking in new ways to constructively challenge and inspire them
  • Forecast and mapped key ways in which technology will affect food in the future
  • Explored and explained changing consumer mindsets and the new expectations they will have of ‘Big Food’
  • Drew on cross-industry and out-of-category insights in order to predict where new technologies and business models will enter the food sector.

The Outcome: Our client shared our work with trends and futures leaders across their global businesses in an intensive series of presentations and workshops, leveraging the way our unique insights and foresight made complex ideas understandable, relevant and inspiring.

Future Mobility Contexts for Key Demographics

International Automotive Manufacturer

Our client is a global carmaker with a history of engineering innovation and a reputation as an exciting, inspiring and dynamic brand.

Their Challenge: ‘How will different demographics adapt to new technologies and develop new expectations around mobility? What will this mean for our automotive brands’ products, services and communications?’

Our Solution: We identified and illustrated a wide range of future mobility services, defined against key global trends, wider service contexts and target consumer personas. We:

  • Defined consumer target groups based on Stylus Macro Trends and Stylus Consumer Lifestyle tracking
  • Prioritised new and emerging technology and transport trends and the ways in which automotive and transport contexts will change in the future
  • Visualised and applied future mobility services and ecosystems across consumer groups, connecting them to a segmented understanding of consumer needs, use cases and behaviours
  • Mapped and clustered these into near-, mid- and long-term sections of a 10 year forecast.

The Outcome: Our client continues to use our Mobility Contexts work to inform product design, brand and marketing communications as well as retail and dealership engagement.
