Trends Editor – Consumer Lifestyle & Technology

Stylus / London

We are looking for an experienced editor or trends analyst with expertise in identifying and writing about consumer behaviour and technology trends to join our Content team. The main focus for this role will be to drive the editorial strategy within the Consumer LIfestyle directory – which covers demographics and psychographics, health and wellness, leisure, tech, transport, finance and education – to develop quality content in response to client needs. The position is a maternity cover and the contract will be for 12 months. Part-time/flexible working considered.

Key responsibilities:

  • Writing, commissioning and editing reports, blog posts, macro trends and presentations
  • Hands-on research and data sourcing to validate ideas
  • Covering or commissioning coverage for trade shows and conferences, both locally and internationally – for example: Millennial 20/20, SXSW Festival, Cannes Lions, CES
  • Managing an assistant editor and freelance contributors, ensuring tone and quality of writing adheres to Stylus’ style
  • Oversee weekly publishing schedule and review regularly to ensure all content is delivered in accordance with client expectations. Contribute to the overall annual publishing schedule
  • Steer the Consumer Lifestyle directory’s content strategy in line with Chief Creative Officer’s vision and overall business strategy

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Educated to at least degree level in a related discipline – e.g. Journalism
  • 8+ years of lifestyle- or tech-related editorial, analytical or trend-forecasting expertise with a proven track record of success 
  • Strong writing skills
  • Experience of directing / managing an in-house team 
  • Experience of editing (short- and long-form content)
  • Experience of uploading and managing content to a CMS platform
  • Robust network of relevant, current industry contacts (across lifestyle-related industries)
  • Ability to source data that validates qualitative research
  • Strong awareness of the consumer behaviour and attitudes that will impact trends and innovations
  • Ability to take an long-term view of the business, showing understanding of commercial aspects of industry and client needs – as demonstrated through decisions taken about content generation and publication

Advisory Researcher

Stylus / London

The London-based Advisory Researcher will work with the Advisory team, supporting day-to-day project work, helping to meet deadlines and contribute to client-facing deliverables with key research initiatives.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conducting desk research and working through client and Advisory team briefs
  • Pulling research from Stylus’ online platform
  • Identifying and collating incoming research
  • Synthesizing incoming research to create new trends and themes
  • Researching and compiling images
  • Building mood boards and finding supporting imagery
  • Modifying Keynote files and templates
  • Reviewing past work and archives for relevant research
  • Carry out ad hoc administrative tasks such as managing databases and cataloguing incoming research

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Educated to at least degree level in a related discipline
  • 0-2 years work experience in a relevant environment 
  • Articulate with good communication skills
  • Strong analytic skills are essential

Business Development Executive

Stylus / London

We are looking for a Business Development Executive who will be responsible for proactively identifying and engaging with prospective clients to introduce Stylus and set-up meetings on behalf of Business Development Managers.

Key responsibilities:

  • Understand the profile of Stylus’ customer base and target markets and identify/prioritise the most likely prospects (customer competitors, similar size/nature businesses, key markets/business attributes, key job functions)
  • Market research to identify best people to contact within prospective client companies – ‘decision-makers’ – understanding their needs and how Stylus can benefit them
  • Proactively interact with prospective clients via telephone and email and document these communications clearly within the CRM system
  • Ability to articulate Stylus product offering and how it can be used as a business tool, knowing the most relevant types of report examples for particular prospect types and the relevant customer case studies to share
  • Secure 70 meetings per quarter for EMEA Business Development Managers
  • Manage all inbound sales enquiries for your region, dealing directly or passing to relevant specialist / existing account owner

Required skills and qualifications:

  • 1-2 years’ experience in a related role, ideally gained in a design or marketing agency, familiarity with a CRM / sales automation system
  • Fluency in French or other Southern European language is essential
  • Superior oral communication skills, excellent written skills and engaging presentation skills, with the ability to adapt any scripted communications to a specific conversation and react quickly to questions
  • Demonstrable on-going interest in innovation and trends in the creative consumer industries, marketing, brand and design related disciplines
  • A high degree of professionalism and organisational skills, used to multi-tasking and managing own workload and throughput

Developer

Stylus / London

This role is for a self-starter that can work within a team of developers implementing and supporting various projects across the business. The Developer will be responsible for assisting in the development of a range of systems across the company. The majority of work will be on the website using .NET based technology, both internal and external tools.

Systems Development:

  • Design and documentation of complex technical solutions 
  • Participation in all stages of the solution life cycle from pre-sales to support.
  • Support existing and new functionality across all systems. 
  • Contribution to the architecture of solutions. 
  • Make recommendations on UX best practises and overall website design

We're looking for a Business Development Manager to help grow the Stylus client base and maximise revenue.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop a business plan for assigned territory or industry vertical, identifying key players and implementing strategy to bring new clients on board
  • Liaise with Marketing, Client Services, Advisory and Content teams to gain a forensic understanding of the Stylus product 
  • Operating a solution sales approach, apply industry knowledge to understand marketing, design, consumer and other related strategies or development areas a b2b client may have and develop proposals to best position Stylus as a solution to these issues
  • Autonomously manage end to end process of sales cycle from researching leads to closing deals with proven ability to multi-task across managing multiple clients at different points of the sales process
  • Operate a ‘volume’ approach to sales as well as cultivate longer term ‘C’ level relationships to extend client relationship into advisory services New business
  • Be a CRM ‘master’, recording all activity in Salesforce 

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Educated to at least degree level in related discipline
  • An experienced solution-seller with minimum 5- 10 years b2b sales experience, ideally gained in a variety of industries and preferably selling into b2b companies and agencies

Advisory Strategist

Stylus / London

We are looking for an experienced researcher and presenter with the enthusiasm, gravitas, and industry knowledge to join our UK team as Advisory Strategist. This role is responsible for helping apply Stylus lifestyle, product and engagement research and content to specific client issues or initiatives and deliver this bespoke work to our clients.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning, commissioning, researching, creating and editing advisory decks, reports and other deliverables, along with Stylus experts and contributors
  • Delivering advisory work - often live to the client in formats including one to one meetings, workshops, panels and large audience presentations
  • Diagnosing client needs and how Stylus can address these through advisory
  • Agreeing the scope with the client 
  • Helping the Sales and Client Services teams market advisory services to our existing and prospective clients through joining conference calls, attending meetings with the commercial teams and creating outlines and proposals

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Exceptional research and presentation skills
  • An understanding of how different industry sectors (e.g. retail, product design, fashion, hospitality, marketing) are influenced and motivated by wider cultural, social and technological change, together with an awareness of the intersections between these industries 
  • Experience analysing and communicating global consumer insights  
  • A strong problem solver with the ability to think creatively and help clients understand the value of using Stylus as an innovation tool
